Teacher shot by 6-year-old student files $40 million lawsuit

A Virginia teacher who was shot and seriously injured by her six-year-old student sued school officials for $40m in damages, alleging gross negligence in ignoring warnings that the boy had a gun and was in a “violent mood”. Abby Zwerner, a first-grade teacher, was shot in the hand and chest in January by the boy who had accessed his mother’s lawfully purchased weapon.
